Kua Roa Te Wā!

E hika! Kua roa rawa te wā i a tātou e kare mā - aku whakapāhā mo taku koretake, kāore he kōrero tua atu i tēnā - kia arohamai. We've had some very busy weeks over the past month here at Huarau HQ & there's no better time than now to fill you all in on the goings on and happenings that have kept me preoccupied for so long.

He Maha Ōku Pōtāe

On top of learning to run this business I also wear a number of other hats, first and foremost I am a mother, a wife, a kapa haka tutor, kaiako matua - Senior Teacher in New Zealand's largest full primary school. I have recently returned to mahi (part time) after being on maternity leave with our boss baby, and so I've not had the full focus and attention I'd like to give to Huarau.

On top of the typical catching up I've been doing this past week or so, I've also been preparing our school kapa haka rōpū for the upcoming Mana Kuratahi competition that will be held in Nov. Needless to say, I've been full on around here. Take a quick nohi at my current desk situation. There's a cold cup of hot choc from the McCafe, a glass of flat coke, some proofs for our generic stencils I've been working on, a box of tissues because I'm a tad sick, some stamps for invoices I'm filing and a few other odds and ends. It's the first day in a long time that I've found time to connect with the business side of things, and with all of you. Thank you for understanding.

One of the most pressing projects I have been working on lately is our generic moko stencil set. There's been a lot of interest, and i've been working hard to get the process just right before releasing the product to eager consumers. I'd hate to have released these and not be able to keep up with all of the orders, so please understand I'm trying my best to make sure I am putting out quality :).

That being said I have some thanks to make in this post for those who have had an input on the whole process. I plan on doing some more collaborative pieces in the future - WATCH THIS SPACE, but for the moment I'd like to thank Marsh Wilson for his help in putting together some designs that will be released later this year. It's safe to say that progress is slow, yet steady, and I'm taking things as they come day by day.

Despite the numerous things I still have to conquer on the to-do-list, I am over-joyed to say we are ready to release our standard and basic generic set this week. This is a very basic face stencil set, and is going to be the first of many sets we aim to develop over the years. If you're hoping to get a set made in time for Mana Kuratahi, you're probably not going to have much luck. The turn around time on production is between 1-2 weeks, but you'll be notified of an estimated date of completion upon purchase. If all goes well, we'll be pumping a few sets out pre-made for xmas.

For now I have a tonne of invoices etc to deal with in time for my 6 month returns, so I shall love and leave you all here.

HUARAU!
